Angus cows

Cow families

The stud is in expansion mode. This is being achieved via flush programmes and heifer purchases. Through purchases from the Waiterenui and Matauri studs we have been able to lift our performance and joining numbers. The following cows and lines have had calves at Cricklewood to date.

  • Waiterenui Merry Maid

Waiterenui Zulu was a bull that really left his mark at Cricklewood, a son from the Merry Maid cow line to be continued through further heifer purchases from Waiterenui in recent years. Of those cows purchased the Merry maids have been the standouts in their maternal outlook and function.

  • Waiterenui Vanessa
  • Waiterenui Eva
  • Waiterenui Vine
  • Matauri 09985, 09989, 09999, 09983 cows

Recent heifer purchases

Cricklewood has supported the Queen of hearts initiative from its conception. The show and sale has been a great way to display potential mother cows to help correct a stagnant female focus within the wider beef industry. We are excited at the purchases we have been able to acquire and what they can do for the Cricklewood programme.

Ranui F17

Pedigree: Totaranui 773 X Ranui 8637 (infinity daughter), purchased 2011 beef expo

A fairly stacked NZ Performance pedigree going back to ‘Te mania Unlimited’ twice, she has a smart first heifer calf on the ground now out of our new sire ‘Te mania 09 492’.

F17’s grandmother was the Ranui donor dam W139, an Atahua legacy daughter with 80 progeny. F17 is a nice young heifer with plenty of outlook- we look forward to tracking her performance.

Turihaua Kathleen F17

Purchased $9000 2011 beef expo

This heifer comes out of our favourite donor cow out of the Turihaua programme- V256. We have purchased progeny out of Kathleen’s mother before and are excited to see the results! Her sire is Turihaua Revolution V237, who goes back to the legendary Hingaia 469 on his dams side.

Goldwyn Sambuca F405

Purchased for $13,000 at the beef expo 2011.

What a heifer! Few can resist her phenotype and nature, such an easy doing maternal type. Used in a small E.T programme in 2012-the calf’s from this flush are to be born in September 2013. We had a crack flushing her as an unproven heifer because we love the cows mother (Goldwyn 466) and feel she will have predictability in her breeding. F405 is an infinity daughter with outstanding carcase and moderate growth going back to Te mania Ulong on her dams side- this heifer is performance with phenotype!
